Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, received the Egyptian adventurer and traveler Ali Abdo, who arrived in the United Arab Emirates on an electric bicycle to participate in the COP28 climate conference, where his exceptional journey began from the Arab Republic of Egypt on October 1, 2023, during which he covered a distance of more than 4,000 km in 58 days. For one day, he visited 40 Arab cities, passing through the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the State of Qatar, before concluding his trip in the Emirates.
Dr. Yasmine Fouad explained that during his trip, the Egyptian adventurer organized events and activities in schools, universities and clubs with the aim of raising awareness about environmental challenges and the importance of climate action, especially among young people, as part of his efforts as an ambassador for sustainable development. During his trip, he highlighted the initiatives of Arab countries to achieve sustainable development goals. .
The Minister of Environment indicated that the adventurer’s trip, “The Journey to the Climate Summit 28,” comes under the auspices of the presidency of the 27th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), the League of Arab States, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of the Environment, and in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme. , UNICEF Egypt, the Climate Our Land Foundation for Sustainable Development, the Egyptian Car and Touring Club, the Arab Youth Council, and the Holding Company for Water and Sanitation, in addition to the participation of a number of private companies in the countries included in the trip.
The Minister pointed out that the participation of adventurer Ali Abdo in the COP28 climate conference is considered a step to enhance the role of youth in important issues and raise awareness of the importance of moving to preserve the environment and promote sustainable development in the Arab region.
